Conference on Water Scarcity and Policy in the Middle East and Mediterranean
An international conference will be held at Cornell University to bring together scholars from a variety of disciplines engaged in research that addresses the crisis of fresh water resources in dry regions of the world. The conference will focus particularly on the Middle East, the Mediterranean Basin, and the Nile Basin, where population increase and climate change threaten to exacerbate regional conflicts and human suffering.
Government Designated Experts meeting: another step to implementing the Ecosystem Approach by MAP
Following up in its commitment to contribute to the UNEP/MAP process of developing the Ecosystem Approach for the Mediterranean, MIO-ECSDE participated at the second government designated experts (GDE) meeting on the application of the Ecosystem Approach, held in Durres, Albania on 2-3 June 2011.
MEDPOL Focal Points Meeting: working toward reducing pollution in the Med
MIO-ECSDE was invited to participate in the Focal Points Meeting of MEDPOL held in Rhodes on 25-27 May 2011. Together in the NGO front MIO-ECSDE joined with HELMEPA and Cleanup Greece, all three of which have cooperated in the development of the study on marine litter in the Mediterranean
