BlueGreen Med-CS is labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean

MIO-ECSDE is a partner in the project proposal “BlueGreen Med-CS” which is in the process of securing the funds to be launched. It was labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean earlier in 2014. Through a capacity building programme and a small grants scheme, the project will enable NGOs to acquire skills in various areas of sustainable development.

MIO-ECSDE & MEdIES join the International Coastal Cleanup Day 2014!

MIO-ECSDE and MEdIES, in collaboration with HELMEPA, Geitonas School and the Hellenic Recovery Recycling Corporation joined the International Coastal Cleanup Day 2014, the largest global volunteer effort to remove and record litter on the coastal and marine environment, bringing every year together more than 650.000 people, from some 100 countries worldwide.

DeFishGear workshop: a stepping stone towards harmonized marine litter monitoring in the Adriatic Sea

Monitoring of macro- and micro-litter was the focus of a two and half-day sub-regional workshop that took place in Split on 18-20 June 2014. It was co-organized by the Institute of Water of the Republic of Slovenia and the Mediterranean Information Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development within the framework of the IPA Adriatic funded DeFishGear project.

DeFishGear Conference consolidates the collective fight against marine litter

More than one hundred and thirty decision makers, scientists and representatives of civil society and industry from all over the Euro-Mediterranean area met in Athens on 12-13 of May 2014 to share information across borders, identify common goals and initiate joint actions to make a difference in the collective fight against marine litter.

DeFishGear paves the way for harmonized marine litter monitoring in the Adriatic Sea

More than thirty five marine litter experts from all seven countries of the Adriatic Sea, the European Commission, international organizations, including the Regional Sea Convention(s), Non-Governmental Organizations and other stakeholders met in Athens on the 12th of May 2014 to jointly define a monitoring and assessment strategy for marine litter in the Adriatic Sea.
