The IV Euro-Mediterranean Ministerial Conference on Water was held in Barcelona, Spain on 13 April 2010. In this Conference, following the agreements achieved in the Ministerial Conference in the Dead Sea Ministerial Conference in 2008, the “Long-Term Strategy for Water in the Mediterranean” was discussed.

The 2009 campaign was a great success with a hit a record of over 400 participating bodies that mobilised more than 100,000 people.
Recently a report on understanding the causes of biodiversity loss and the policy assessment framework was published by the European Commission DG Environment. According to the report biodiversity continues to decrease at unprecedented rates as human development and expansion result in the fragmentation and loss of habitat for flora and fauna.
