A Workshop on “The role of Euro-Mediterranean Civil Society in mainstreaming equality issues in regional environmental cooperation on water and energy in the prospects of climate change” was organized on 14-15 May 2010 in Alicante, Spain in the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean Civil Forum.
The Residential Training Workshop on “Universities & ESD” was a five-day training course organised by the University of Athens, the MIO-ECSDE/MEdIES Secretariat, the Baltic University Programme (BUP) and the Centre of Environmental Education (CEE) of Amfissa, which took place on 23- 28 May, 2010, in the CEE Amfissa, Greece.
MIO-ECSDE participated in the 3rd European Maritime Day co-organised by the European Commission, the Spanish Presidency of the European Union and the Government of the Principality of Asturias, in Gijón, Spain on 18-21 May 2010.
Global natural resources are deteriorating partly due to consumption patterns. One fifth of the global population is consumption happy youth and it is this target group that the youthXchange (YXC) global campaign addresses. It was initiated by UNESCO and UNEP in 2002.
At the second reading vote (with 42 votes in favor, 2 against and 3 abstentions) on the amendments to the Council’s position on the Regulation on Novel Foods that took place on the 4th of May 2010, the Environment Committee MEPs reaffirmed their determination to ensure that certain safety and labeling requirements are in place for authorizing food produced with the aid of nanotechnologies.
