Horizon 2020 tackles the growing challenge of marine litter in the Mediterranean

The presence of marine litter in the Mediterranean and other European Seas is becoming an issue of high concern that requires action. Adequate measures are needed to address the pressure of litter in the marine environment both at sea and on land, whereby public awareness and education towards more sustainable lifestyles, as well as coordination at regional level play an important role.

MIO-ECSDE gearing up for Rio+20

The Mediterranean Information Office together with all major actors in the Mediterranean environmental scene, will hold an official Side Event within the framework of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

MIO-ECSDE at the 17th COP of the Barcelona Convention in Paris

MIO-ECSDE participated in the 17th Ordinary Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean and its Protocols, organized by the UNEP/MAP Secretariat in Paris on 8-10 February, 2012. The overall aim of MIO-ECSDE’s presence was to actively promote civil society participation in all levels of implementation of the Convention and its protocols.
