MIO-ECSDE/MEdIES Activities for Rainwater Harvesting in the Cyclades, April-June 2010
MIO-ECSDE through the MEdIES Secretariat in cooperation with the Heads of Environmental Education of Primary and Secondary level of the Prefecture of Cyclades and the local authorities organised a series of educational activities in 6 islands of the Cyclades, namely Ios, Santorini, Anafi, Naxos, Iraklia and Koufonisi during April-June 2010.

A Workshop on “The role of Euro-Mediterranean Civil Society in mainstreaming equality issues in regional environmental cooperation on water and energy in the prospects of climate change” was organized on 14-15 May 2010 in Alicante, Spain in the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean Civil Forum.
Residential Training Workshop on“Universities & ESD”
The Residential Training Workshop on “Universities & ESD” was a five-day training course organised by the University of Athens, the MIO-ECSDE/MEdIES Secretariat, the Baltic University Programme (BUP) and the Centre of Environmental Education (CEE) of Amfissa, which took place on 23- 28 May, 2010, in the CEE Amfissa, Greece.

Global natural resources are deteriorating partly due to consumption patterns. One fifth of the global population is consumption happy youth and it is this target group that the youthXchange (YXC) global campaign addresses. It was initiated by UNESCO and UNEP in 2002.
ENVI vote in favour of a precautionary approach in relation to nanomaterials in food
At the second reading vote (with 42 votes in favor, 2 against and 3 abstentions) on the amendments to the Council’s position on the Regulation on Novel Foods that took place on the 4th of May 2010, the Environment Committee MEPs reaffirmed their determination to ensure that certain safety and labeling requirements are in place for authorizing food produced with the aid of nanotechnologies.
