We are very pleased to announce that Jordan has recently won the Council for Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment/Arab League Award for the Best Environmental Voluntary Practice in the Arab world in the year 2010, for the Recycling Project that has been implemented by Jordan Environment Society (JES), since 1995.
The Executive Director of JES, Engr. Ahmad Al-Kofahi, received the Award at the beginning of the Council for Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment final session of the year, which took place at Cairo, on December 19th, 2010; and was awarded by His Royal Highness, Princess Turki Bin Naser Bin Abdel Aziz, the Chairman of the Executive Office of the Council for Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment.
This pilot project illustrates the complementary roles of government, non-governmentalorganizations and community members in seeking sustainable solutions to environmental problems.
