DeFishGear paves the way for harmonized marine litter monitoring in the Adriatic Sea
More than thirty five marine litter experts from all seven countries of the Adriatic Sea, the European Commission, international organizations, including the Regional Sea Convention(s), Non-Governmental Organizations and other stakeholders met in Athens on the 12th of May 2014 to jointly define a monitoring and assessment strategy for marine litter in the Adriatic Sea.
The Mediterranean Strategy on ESD is now endorsed by the 43 countries of the UfM!
After many years of efforts of MIO-ECSDE and its Membership the Mediterranean Strategy on ESD (MSESD) has been formally and unanimously endorsed by the 43 Ministers of Environment of the UfM, at their meeting in Athens on May 13th 2014.

Kicking off a MIO-ECSDE project to protect and conserve freshwater ecosystems in the Drin River Basin
The official launch of MIO-ECSDE’s new project entitled “Living well in harmony with the Drin” (Act4Drin) took place at the premises of the Macedonian Ecological Society on 28 March 2014 in Skopje. The project, which is funded by CEPF aims at raising public awareness, enhancing knowledge and empowering NGOs to protect and conserve freshwater ecosystems in the Drin River Basin.
