On 25 November 2011 in Tirana the five Drin River Riparians signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on a Shared Strategic Vision for the Sustainable Management of the Drin River Basin to protect the shared water resources.
Along with 300 other participants involved in the GEF International Waters (IW) portfolio of projects, MIO-ECSDE staff attended a four-day conference, held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, 17-20 October 2011.
Representatives of national, regional and local authorities, water users associations, academia, members from the private sector, NGOs as well as representatives of international organizations and donor agencies met on 29 September 2011, in Podgorica, Montenegro for a National Consultation Meeting to discuss and elaborate on management issues, needs and actions for the sustainable management of the Drin river basin.
More than 25 representatives of regional and national networks/associations of civil society major groups (NGOs, business associations, local authorities, etc.) and media professionals, gathered for a 2-day sub-regional training in Podgorica, 29-30 September 2011 in order to explore ways on how to act as catalysts to de-pollute the Mediterranean.
