In the period of 18.12.2009 to 19.02.2010, the European Commission launched a public consultation on the “Strategic Nanotechnology Action Plan (SNAP) 2010-2015”. The objective of this public consultation was to invite views on the needs in nanotechnology in the next five years, as perceived by experts active in the field and by the public at large.
The main objective of the new Action Plan will be to address the technological and societal challenges of the next five years and to strengthen the research and innovation efforts, with increased emphasis on sustainable development, competitiveness, health, safety and environmental issues.
MIO-ECSDE welcomed the participatory approach followed by the European Commission and submitted its main views, concerns, and considerations (click here to read MIO-ECSDE’s Position Paper on Nanotechnologies) that should be taken into account while drafting the “Strategic Nanotechnology Action Plan (SNAP) 2010-2015”.
