Within the framework of the Interreg IPA ADRION TETHYS4ADRION project, a webinar series on riverine macrolitter monitoring will take place in June and July, with the aim of empowering individuals and communities to take action and help address the data gaps that hamper the implementation of effective measures towards litter-free rivers.

The power of participatory science and community-based research lies in the fact that everyone can contribute to the generation of fit-for-purpose data, help fill critical environmental knowledge gaps, and support informed environmental decision-making.

The webinar series will introduce participants to the fundamentals of macrolitter monitoring in rivers, aligned with MSFD TGML and CORMON guidance, supporting the collection of fit-for-purpose riverine litter data by community groups.

The sessions will cover key monitoring approaches for both riverbank and floating macrolitter, providing practical and methodological insights that can be applied across river systems in the Adriatic-Ionian and Mediterranean regions, as well as beyond.
