RAED, a founding member of MIO-ECSDE, organized a series of 8 virtual webinars in preparation for the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), which was held from 30 November until 12 December 2023, in Dubai. Given that the COP’s Agreement is said to have signaled the “Beginning of the End” of the Fossil Fuel Era, RAED and its active members can claim to have made their contribution through their targeted activities.
The webinars on climate change were co-organized with RAED’s national coordinators in cooperation with the Climate Action Network for the Arab World (CANAW), the Green Party of Lebanon (GPL) and the Lebanese Environment Forum (LEF), during August and September 2023.
The Human Environmental Association for Development, a MIO-ECSDE member and RAED’s Lebanese coordinator, organized 3 of the 8 events:
- The impact of climate change on demographic and social aspects and Arab women (issues and confrontations)
- Risks and interconnections between climate change and health
- Media: Environmental and climate change issues
The series of webinars concluded with a set of recommendations that were submitted to COP28 and presented in various side events.
