The Horizon Europe FOLOU project has launched the second course in its online training series, “Measuring Food Loss: Implementing the FOLOU Methodology.” Developed by the University of Reading and delivered through the Ubiqua platform (UVic-UCC), this course builds on the introductory course “Understanding Food Loss”, which was released earlier this year.

The course is suitable for anyone with an interest in food loss, including farmers, advisors, researchers, public administrators, and policymakers.

In this course, you will learn:

  • Why measuring food loss is essential to understand the scale of the problem
  • How to apply the FOLOU food loss definition
  • How and where to measure food loss in agriculture, aquaculture, and fisheries
  • How to aggregate food loss data at different territorial levels
  • How to use the FOLOU reporting system and registry

Key Details:

  • Self-paced and available anytime
  • 100% online
  • Free digital badge upon completion
  • EIT Food accreditation

You can access the course in two easy steps:

  1. Log in or create a Ubiqua account: https://ubiqua.uvic.cat/enrol/index.php?id=1204&lang=en
  2. Register for the course using the password: FOLOUC2

The course distils key insights from the FOLOU project, which aims to reduce food loss across the EU at primary production stage, encompassing agriculture, aquaculture, and fisheries. MIO-ECSDE plays a key role in the project, supporting research on food loss drivers, conducting policy analysis and co-leading the project’s Twinning Regions Programme.
