Global natural resources are deteriorating partly due to consumption patterns. One fifth of the global population is consumption happy youth and it is this target group that the youthXchange (YXC) global campaign addresses. It was initiated by UNESCO and UNEP in 2002.
The Mediterranean Arab countries are also greatly concerned about consumption issues, especially in link to their rapidly diminishing resources. Therefore, MIO-ECSDE and 6 partners from the Mediterranean, with the support of the ALF and the EU, took the initiative to address the younger generations and introduce the YXC kit that supplies youth with simple tips in an appealing way.
The Launching events of the YXC kit took place on 8-9 May 2010 in Amman, Jordan, with a great participation and interest from the Jordanian educational community on the issue of consumption.
