RAED successfully held a regional webinar on Thursday, 6 November 2025, to advance the TeraMED Initiative launched in October 2024. The initiative seeks to accelerate renewable energy adoption and strengthen regional cooperation across the Mediterranean.
The event brought together key stakeholders—parliamentarians, government officials, academia, regional and international organizations, financial institutions, private sector representatives, women and youth groups, media actors, and local champions—from eight southern Mediterranean countries: Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Lebanon, Libya, and Palestine. Participants exchanged perspectives and reinforced joint action in preparation for UNFCCC COP30 in Brazil.
MIO-ECSDE participated in the webinar, supporting its founding member RAED and its member organizations that are partners in the TeraMED Initiative.
Discussions highlighted the Mediterranean’s path toward renewable energy and energy security, the role of civil society and policy advocacy in driving fair and inclusive energy transitions, and regional collaboration to develop joint civil society key messages on renewable energy cooperation ahead of COP30.
TeraMED aims to deliver 1 Terawatt of renewable energy capacity in the Mediterranean by 2030, showing how renewable energy can provide energy security, affordability, clean industrial development, jobs, and investments for the region.
