On 22-23 November 2024, MIO-ECSDE joined forces with the Goethe Institute in Cairo to co-organize the EnviroMORE Festival, a vibrant event dedicated to raising awareness about sustainability and fostering actionable change.

The festival brought together a dynamic mix of youth, educators, sustainability enthusiasts, media, as well as representatives from the Egyptian Ministry of Education for two days of interactive workshops, engaging discussions, and an exhibition showcasing the creativity and dedication of young people participating in the Floating Forward and Be2aty projects—two EU-funded projects spearheaded by the Goethe Institute.

Festival Highlights

  • Workshops for Sustainability: MIO-ECSDE’s team contributed through hands-on learning sessions, including an innovative “Tinkering workshop”, facilitated by Ms Iro Alampei, which offered participants practical ways to rethink consumption and make decisions that promote sustainability.
  • Panel Discussion on Youth Visions: A thought-provoking panel, moderated by Mr. Haris Paliogiannis, delved into the personal journeys of young Egyptian changemakers in their efforts to drive environmental change in their local contexts.
  • Youth Creativity on Display: The exhibition, featuring works from Floating Forward and Be2aty participants, stood out as a celebration of the imagination and commitment of young individuals tackling pressing environmental issues.

The festival served as a platform to explore and promote smarter consumption habits, emphasizing choices that are mindful, practical, and environmentally friendly. It also connected the participants to a larger community of changemakers.

MIO-ECSDE is happy to have been part of this impactful event and remains committed to fostering education and collaboration for a sustainable future.
