Agenda

The indicative agenda items that the IP will cover include:
1. Ecological principles and function of natural ecosystems
2. Various types of protected areas & their characteristics
3. Sustainable management of protected areas; management plans, economic issues, cultural aspects, the participation of the society
4. Key concepts in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD); the evolution and related theory
5. The case of the MAB Biosphere Reserves as Learning places for ESD
6. The profile of the educator in the protected areas
7. Planning, implementing and evaluating ESD activities in protected areas
8. Current pedagogical methods and tools applied in ESD

All topics will be approached through lectures-presentations combined with discussions and studentsΆ participation i.e. in group works examining case-studies, exploring webpages and using e-applications, workshops in the field, etc.  It is up to the lecturer how he/she will carry out the session, as long as it is interactive (and not just a lecture).
