The 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of MIO-ECSDE was held on the 20th of December 2021 – on-line once again. Against all odds, optimism was high among the member organisations of the Federation. In good spirits, the year in review was discussed and unanimous approval was given to the 2021 Report of Activities and Financial Report. The provisional Work Programme and Budget for 2022 was also given the assembly’s green light.

The AGM was an important opportunity for the Membership to reaffirm their intent to keep on working together based on mutual trust, dedication, and commitment. In fact, a commemorative video dedicated to exactly this sense of togetherness and continuity and to thank all MIO-ECSDE members for their valuable contribution all these years was produced in 2021 and premiered during the AGM.

A ‘lightning round’ included in the agenda of the AGM, gave the member NGOs the opportunity to share their 2021 highlights and announce upcoming 2022 major activities.

A clear message of the AGM was that preparations for Mediterranean civil society participation in UNFCCC’s COP27 that will take place in Sharm El-Sheikh (Egypt) in November 2022, should start early. Founding member RAED committed to coordinating the process.

The AGM closed with the elections for those members of the Executive Bureau whose 2-year term has come to an end. Outgoing members were saluted while newcomers were welcomed! The constitution of the Executive Bureau for 2022 can be seen here.

We look forward to the 27th AGM being a face-to-face one and till then we send best wishes for the New Year!
